Aviva is the new name for Norwich Union.

It's all part of their big, multi-national image. I think that they were finding that non-native English speakers were having trouble working out how to pronounce 'Norwich'. Aviva is much simpler.

I love your icon. Is that from Life on Mars?

Yes, it was done by red-scharlach, who has made a whole string of fab mini-icon userpics with characters from a range of genre programmes.

Technically the company has been Aviva for years, ever since Norwich Union merged with CGU. They only dropped the Norwich Union brand last year though.

That would be Iggy Pop, advertizing insurance. Which is just wrong

Aviva......the Paul Whitehouse series is Norwich Union in disguise.
I really like those Go Compare ads. Who is that guy?
As a rule I dont watch ads .....ads are the reason that the remote control was invented.
Pet hates.......Churchill....Nationwide/Little Britain and anything which makes me think "what are they actually advertising".
Shortly product placement will replace ads and you will prolly see Carlsberg served in Emerdales Woolpack and Budweiser served in Eastenders Queen Vic.
And Dev and Norris will be serving Cadburys Flake in their Corrie shops.

I like the go compare ads on the radio have you heard those?

I don't get the little britain ones, Halifax are doing a lot better at getting my attention, and I bet they're cheaper too

I won't mind product placement on those progs - don't watch them

Halifax use their own staff for adverts....one of the first people they used was employed in a local Branch here.
Cant say Ive ever heard the radio ads.
And you dont watch ANY of the programmes. I was about 8 when I saw the first episode of Corrie and I although Im sure Ive missed several in 50 years, I very rarely miss one.
I am a Corrie "expert" and bore.

only watch when forced

I don't think there are many people I recognise in any of them

My daughter watches them and inflicts on me occasionally when she visits for extended periods
