I can't believe that my summer is almost over. A little less than 2 weeks and we start professional development... hoo-boy, I can't wait

Not sure what your end goal is, but if you are looking to start gradually, I and many other ppl I know have had success with the Couch to 5K program - gets you running 30 minutes continuously, which I think is a great fitness benchmark. Or, and this is going to sound cheesy, but I just met someone who completed and loved the P90X program - you can get the DVDs cheap on Craisglist or eBay.
When you are getting started, I think your goal should be to be active consistently, 4 times a week, and just build time and days from there.
I had another friend try the Couch to 5K program as well and he raved about it as well. Although, he did complain that the music was a bit cheesy to listen to. I'll probably just make my own mix of music and set it to intervals that correspond to the program....
And, while I do agree that P90X does sound cheesy too, I've also heard similar things about it working pretty well.
oh yeah, totally forgot there is a podcast now. Back in my day, we had to use our own watches to count the intervals! And run uphill both ways in the snow! And we LIKED it!
The only exercise plan that's worked for me is to exercise with my TV. At first I felt retarded doing cardio and yoga in my living room, imaging so many 80's aerobics commercials with legwarmers and headbands.
BUT it's the only thing that I've managed to keep up for almost 9 months, at least a few times a week. I can do it whenever I have time instead of having to conform to a gym's class schedule, it's fast cuz I don't have to drive to/from a gym, and I don't have to worry about looking like an idiot in front of other people in a big class.
Having said that, I'm not sure it's great for real weight loss. I just wanted to stop being soft, not necessarily loose weight. So for me, it's been successful - the yoga especially.
Oh, I guess I should point out that I have TW cable and the ExceriseTV thing is part of their on-demand selections. So that's what I've been using.
Yeah, I've heard that TW has some awesome on-demand programs... unfortunately, I'm watching Direct TV, which doesn't have those exercise options. A couple co-workers of mine are obsessed with doing the Jillian Michaels routines.
:D I think that the thing holding me back from doing something like this, and the above mentioned P90X, is written down in your second sentence. I would feel like a complete retard following an instructor on my TV. And, who's to say I'd be doing the exercises correctly in the first place? But yeah, motivation to get up and go to the gym/outside can be a little annoying.
And yeah, I'm not necessarily trying to lose weight either, considering I'm still pretty lean. I'm just trying to get my lungs in better shape, get some more energy, and look better naked. :P LOL.
