feeling super meh today thanks to cold, grey, rainy weather and being in close proximity to lame people at work. SO! i have decided to make 2 "my favorite blahblah" lists to cheer myself up.
5 fav makeup items:
burt's bees lip balm - seriously, there is no substitute.
dior diorshow mascara - 1 coat gives you lift, length and volume. 2/3 coats make it look like you have fake lashes...in a good way! :D
the face shop oil-free bb cream - pretty sheer coverage the way i apply it...just evens out skintone a bit.
mac fluidline in blacktrack - to appropriate bret "the hitman" hart, the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.
urban decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil in covet/lust/honey - goes on smooooooooth and doesn't smudge (much) on my mega oily eyelids.
actually, those are pretty much the only makeup items i use if i happen to wear makeup at all. lip balm is the only thing i use near-daily. mascara i use maybe 2x a week, and the rest is prolly used about 4-5 times a month? what can i say, i'm lazy! :D
5 fav skincare/haircare products:
lush big shampoo - i LOVE this even though it's brutal on my colored hair. but what good is color if texture/feeling is meh? this stuff makes my hair feel light and fluffy! which is no small feat when you've got straightpermed hair.
segreta conditioner - when used with the big shampoo, it gives the perfect amount of weight and smoothness to my super damaged hair. if i use it with other shampoos though, it's a little too heavy and weighs my hair down.
neutrogena rainbath awakening citrus breeze body wash - OH MY GOD! i am going to cry SO HARD when i finish my last ginormous 40oz bottle (in about a month) because this is DISCONTINUED! i've used this for 10+ years and i don't know how i'm going to find a suitable replacement because there is none! there's something about the scent that just DOES it for me. it's nothing special to everyone else, which is prolly why it was discontinued, but oh man. tears, for reals. it was discontinued about 4 or 5 years ago, but i went to 5 different costcos and bought all of the massive awakening citrus breeze 40oz bottles i could find. as i near the bottom of my last bottle, i researched on the interwebs and found that neutrogena has brought out what appears to be awakening citrus breeze's replacement: revitalizing grapefruit. the description of the scent is almost exactly the same as my beloved awakening, but as i'm not in the states i can't do a sniff test. D: for now, i've found a tentative successor in pola's aroma ess body wash, but it remains a distant second to my dear, soon to be departed rainbath.
lush ocean salt scrub - use this as my face wash. not every day, maybe 1-2x a week? gonna let you in on a secret: i'm dirty and only rinse/splash my face with warm water in the shower when i don't use this scrub. don't usually put anything on my face to begin with, so it's not a big deal to me. not washing with a cleanser every day has actually made my oily skin NOT as oily, and i get a pimple maybe once every 2 months or something. works for me! bonus pretzel: this is sold under a different name in the japanese lush stores. big is just "biggu", but ocean salt is: ヴィーナス誕生 (bwiinasu tanjou), or birth of venus. very o ic. took me forever because i thought the name would just be katakana-fied, and i finally had to ask a shop assistant. final note: i will never be able to hear the jp pronounciation of "v" without dying a little inside.
bihada ichizoku saki moisturizing sheet mask - lol is the only way to describe this whole series of skincare products. but i love them! there's a whole story and actual comic thing about the beautiful skin family (bihada ichizoku), and 4 main sheet masks (though there's always some kind of limited version going around). they're all quite nice, but this one is my favorite. this one's gimmick is cactus extract which is a little wtf? but i like the way my skin feels afterward so whatever. a little sad that the image character for this mask is yuutenji saki, the evil twin sister but whaccha gonna do.
those are really the only skin/haircare items i use. i have a few different shampoos and conditioners, but the body wash, face scrub and sheet mask are the only skincare "routine" i have.
anyway, now i'm tired and will use all the products in the 2nd list before going to sreep. :D
