In the feudal world, you worked in the lords' service, the lords took a good percentage of the grain you grew, and the king took most of all

Is it so utterly inconceivable that I might be capable of gainful employment? Of submitting my pride to another's commands, and putting these unwieldy hands to practical use? Getting up at a fixed time, and working like a common laborer at an ordinary shop, and submitting myself to the harness of routine, rather than drifting about being sleek and smug and self-satisfiedly feline in a sunbeam with no justification needed beyond my own existence?
...well, yes, I suppose it is that utterly inconceivable.
I craft customized items for Mr. Urahara's clients at his shop, and help querents choose the most appropriate vessels and symbols for the tasks they wish to accomplish. Also I'm quite good at shredding sensitive paperwork before it's disposed of. :3
I believe that on the whole I like the situation as well. I've never been normal before, you see. Never anything resembling it. As humbling as it is to be nothing more nor less than 'normal' for once, it's also an odd source of a different sort of pride -- as far from normal as I am, I can still 'pass' on occasion, so to speak?
...yes, I manage to find pride in the oddest locations. Sometimes I wonder if there really was a deity somewhere back in my family line, because it must have been a very feline deity...
Thank you again, sir, for rescuing me from a fate certainly more embarrassing than death. My previous job offer consisted of 'wizened old fortuneteller' at the circus which was being contemplated, and aside from the indignities in crafting an illusion of age and toothlessness, the prospect of being forced to crossdress on a daily basis was the icing on the cake of embarrassment.
Not that I wouldn't have made a good wizened old crone, that is -- I can manufacture vague-sounding mumbo-jumbo at will, after so many years leading a cult. :3
Still, this is a much more honest task, and I enjoy it.

It depends upon the sort of 'stuff' you seek. I can imbue objects with power, and attune them to certain purposes.
But if you're speaking of hand-crafting wood or fabric or some such, I have ahem certain limitations to work around.
What is it that you have in mind?
[ooc: Syd would pick it out of his head and be tempted to go all cryptic and smug about it, but me-the-mun can't guess what Mugen's after, soooo this is Syd 'pretending not to know too much' in order to not 'scare off the customer'...? XD]
I dunno what half that shit means, but I need something that'll take care of this mechanical guy. I've already fought him once and .. well, you get the idea. His pale ass is a lot more powerful, and without some sort of way to level the playing field I can't even get close enough to use my sword.
[ Mugen is so illiterate .. he has a hard time deciphering what Sydney is saying. Basically he needs something that will let him defeat Bearing, who is privy to a whole arsenal of powerful attacks and stuff whereas Mugen has .. his sword. And since Bearing already used Soshi like a toy and then nearly killed him, and Mugen already nearly died fighting him once he is getting desperate. ]

Mechanical, hmm?
I've noticed that very few of the mechanical objects in this world can handle any sort of irregularities in their power supply.
If you'd be willing to lend me your sword for an hour or so, preferably at midnight, I believe I can offer you something quite suitable.
How would you like to be able to throw lightning bolts at him?
If after testing you find my craftsmanship suitable, you can discuss payment with Mr. Urahara; I am an artisan, not a merchant.
[ooc: Sydney's going to inscribe the sigil for lightning on Mugen's sword. He can still use it as a regular sword, but if he needs the extra firepower, he can slash in the direction of the target and give the activation command. In most of the stuff Sydney does, that would be a command in ancient Kildean. In this case, though, considering it's Mugen, Sydney'll give it just two switches: "stun" (for people he'd like to keep alive) and "fry" (the hit-with-a-bolt-of-lightning-and-make-crispy version). Sound like a plan? XD]
Yes, really. Why is everyone so skeptical about the notion that I could be employable?
...well, yes, you have a good point about my hands. And about the difficulties inherent in putting 'heretic cultist priest and avatar of Dark' on one's resume. But I beg to differ about the unemployability of the snark and teasing! Quite a few talented artists have managed to make a good living despite their eccentricities of personality, and mages are known to be at least as eccentric as artists on the whole...
hmph. In any case. I can give you a month and a half's rent now, and next month I should be able to pay for two. I'm sure it will come in handy, with the wedding expenses.
[ooc: yep, Sydney's having fun with him. <333 Likewise, I need to figure out some way to not be gone four days most weeks!]
[ooc: I think I was technically removed in the last activity check, but I reapped so I dunno what to do now. ^^; I'll at least finish this conversation. Plus, I'm not sure I could stand Riku's reaction if Demyx suddenly disappeared...]
I enchant things for people. Like the water harp and the bracelet that let Nina speak with Alexander, customized for each querent's needs. Mr. Urahara frequently has customers with particular and distinctive requirements, you see.
Plus I suspect it doesn't hurt that I don't have the slightest qualm about conversing with the dead and the gods of the dead. :3
[ooc: oh man, I'd missed that! I hope the re-app gets accepted and stuff! *worries about Riku's reaction too*]

[ooc: Strikes hard to hack, though Sydeny can probably tell anyway. Also I need to be more active.]
