This was really good! There's a lack of GinHiji fic in general and serious GinHiji fic in particular so I'm happy you wrote something like this (though the GinHiji is more hinted at, so people could choose if they want to see the pairing or not).

I liked your characterization of Gintoki, but I loved this for what you did with Hijikata. It was good introspection and angsty... in a very non-angsty way, because of Hijikata's acceptance. I thought that was very IC. I also liked how you incorporated that comment he made during the curse sword arc about the curses he has.

Really liked that part too.

So what I mean is, I hope you write more :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it--especially since this is my first time trying my hand at writing a Gintama fic. I've been wanting to write some GinHiji, though I did kind of purposefully leave it understated since I'm not used to writing for their characters yet.

Awww your words are so kind! I'm so glad the characterization worked out right. I always worry about that...and I'm glad my work paid off :)

I would definitely like to write more GinHiji in the future. I'm too fond of them not to do more! Thank you for the inspiration to write more <3

This was a great Hijikata-centric fic, and since he's my favourite character, I didn't care if it was or not GinHiji because in my mind it's ALWAYS GinHiji XDD

I'm already waiting for your next one, so you'd better take responsability!

...that sounded like something out of a yaoi manga :S

Haha. Same here. I love Hijikata and everything in my mind pans out as GinHiji! I can't help it--its just meant to be that way.
