Author's Note: This was fun and good writing practice, even though I really had to get creative with the structure of some of those sentences!

Confusion
Hibari does not understand the simple intimacies of relationships, and when the baseball herbivore approaches him with gentle smiles and soft caresses, he doesn’t know how to react-other than to threaten to bite him to death for crowding in his space.

Resistance
He was waiting for him with feet propped up on his desk and those brown eyes playfully gazing over at him from across the reception room-why are you here again? I don’t understand, he wanted to say-but instead he just smirked and drew out his tonfa.

Temptation
When Yamamoto found Hibari sleeping on the school’s rooftop he couldn’t help but glide his fingertips through the soft strands of black hair, sweeping across the pale sun-kissed skin.

Clarity
“Speak clearly,” Hibari growls as he grabs the front of Yamamoto’s shirt and pulls their faces so close that their breath mingles-“I like you,” is Yamamoto’s reply.

Chill
The steel of the tonfa against his neck is cold, but the force of Hibari’s knuckle-white grip around the hilt is even more threatening.

Simple
It’s when he scowls, the way his nose wrinkles up just slightly and his eyes narrow deviously thin, that Yamamoto feels his breath stolen away.

Irritation
He growled low in his throat as he turned to storm away, but Yamamoto grabbed his arm, spinning him around and against the wall with a hard thud-he opened his mouth to yell, but Yamamoto silenced him with lips pressed tightly-urgently-against his own.

Crowd
Hibari bites down on his lip as he leans in to deepen their kiss-“don’t crowd me.”

No
“I want you,” Yamamoto says as Hibari’s cold eyes look away saying-I don’t need you.

Kiss
Hibari watches Yamamoto practicing out on the baseball field and runs his fingers along his lips, wanting to understand.

Swift
“Now,” Hibari says as he steps closer and the distance between them dissipates into nothing, “before I change my mind.”

Teeth
Their teeth clatter together as their feverous lips mesh against one another, and Hibari growls low in his throat in irritation because still the space between them is too far.

Untouched
“What are you doing?” Hibari asks as the hands travel lower-“Trust me,” is Yamamoto’s whispered reply.

Reach
Yamamoto reaches for his hand and Hibari instinctively draws back-confusion bubbling in his dark eyes at the hurt that drowns Yamamoto’s expression.

Warmth
The winter air nips at his exposed ears and nose, and he shivers as he shrugs his jacket tighter in search of heat-Yamamoto wraps an arm around his shoulders and Hibari leans into his warmth, deciding that for this one time Yamamoto isn’t quite a crowd yet.

Change
Yamamoto noticed the change the first time he was injured, when Hibari’s eyes widened just slightly and his lips tightened into a taunt line at the sight of bandages across his chest and the bruising along his arms.

Cut
Hibari inspects the healing tissue with a scrutinizing gaze and a scowl twists his delicate features into a heavy snarl that says-don’t get hurt again.

Salt
Panting breathes reverberate in the close space, and Hibari can taste the slick and salty sweat on Yamamoto’s skin as he slides glistening lips across tanned flesh and then bites down-hard.

Automatic
Hibari refuses to be tied down, but then he lets Yamamoto slip his arms around his waist and the automatic inward lean of his shoulders tells Yamamoto more than words can say.

Possessive
He steps in front of the others and bares his fangs like a rabid animal ready to attack, and Yamamoto can feel his heart pounding against his chest when Hibari says: “he’s mine.”

Adrenaline
Hibari steps across the dying body, ignoring the last gurgling breathes of life, as he comes to him with a feral look in his eyes that causes a rush of both excitement and adrenaline.

Prisoner
Another snap and the ring shatters to pieces around Hibari’s finger-and Yamamoto realizes that the only thing that will ever bind Hibari’s strength is the folly of their strategy.

Shiver
A shudder travels the length of his spine, and Yamamoto feels the killing intent in those dark eyes that speak a million facets of strength and resolve.

Battleground
He is elusive and untouchable-yet Yamamoto Takeshi cannot stop himself from chasing this person down until he is lost in the clouded gaze of Hibari Kyouya.

Weak
Hibari does not stay when there is nothing of interest-and the day that Yamamoto fears will come-when Hibari deems him weak and no longer worth his time.

Break
“Don’t leave,” Yamamoto says in a hushed whisper, arms wrapping around the slender figure so tightly that he is afraid he might break.

Stay
Forcefully, his fingers dig into those arms until they threaten to leave bruises, Yamamoto yells-he demands-an answer: “why won’t you let me love you?”

Sharp
Yamamoto’s words are fierce, his eyes as sharp as his katana, his lips taunt with resolve; Hibari cannot look away.

Bind
Hibari refuses to be bound to anyone, including Yamamoto Takeshi.

Exception
…but Yamamoto has always known that Hibari is a bird that cannot be caged.

Gentle
Hibari’s fingertips drift across the hedgehog’s spiked tips as Hibird chants a tune and Jirou grumbles a hello; Yamamoto watches the delicate transaction from afar, smiling at the gentle affection that he is allowed to witness.

Cloth
Hibari’s yukata slips easily from his shoulder and Yamamoto kisses the exposed skin with parted lips and tongue that licks the quivering flesh.

Hush
The tingling sensation of Yamamoto’s hands running across his chest, bring a pleasurable shudder down his spine that ignites his instincts and sparks moans that he can no longer suppress.

Drift
There are nights when Yamamoto buries his face into Hibari’s hair and inhales the light flowery smell of the other man’s body, committing it all to memory, because he knows that one day it may all be taken away from him-and on these nights Hibari silently lets him hold him tighter against his chest.

Home
When he watches the perpetual scowl slip away in slumber, feels the warming embrace of the smaller body wrapped in his arms, Yamamoto knows this is only place that he wants to be.

Simplicity
Yamamoto is a rain of tranquility that calms the raging clouds of Hibari’s impulses.

Need
Hibari needs nothing until those arms snake around his stomach and press him against that steadily beating chest-only then does Hibari realize that he may not need anything, but there are still things he wants.

Morning
When Yamamoto wakes, he does so slowly, because he doesn’t want to disturb the slumbering figure that has captured his heart-he only wants to watch him sleep for just a moment longer.

Intimate
When Yamamoto’s fingers rake across his pale skin, Hibari’s back arches and his lips part in a moan that is soon captured in a kiss that can bring forth both silence and a new feral need to his being.

Disheveled
“Ahaha,” Yamamoto laughed as he looked at Hibari’s mess of black hair, tangled from their love making-how cute, he thought.

Separation
There are times when Yamamoto knows he must leave, but even when he is gone he thinks about their hideaway in the Foundation among shoji doors, Japanese gardens, and the gentle thump of the shishi odoshi.

Written
Hibari looks down at the paper laying beside the futon but does not pick it up to read its pointless goodbye-yet he wonders at this strange feeling that grips his chest and twists his stomach into knots when he realizes that Yamamoto is gone.

Knowledge
He watches Yamamoto more closely, he gazes more deeply, and he knows Yamamoto wonders why he is unable to sleep at night and clutches him that much tighter when they are all flesh, sweat, and locked lips.

Time
Hibari bites his tongue as he watches Yamamoto looking at him expectantly, and even though he knows this will be the last time he will see him like this he cannot make himself speak the words aloud-so instead he merely turns and walks away.

Plead
Hibari trembles at the hands that clasp around him from behind and his body stiffens against the tightening embrace-“tell me what’s wrong,” whispered words echo against his ear in concern.

Emotion
After all these years Hibari has never changed-that is why when Yamamoto reaches out to stop him and feels the tremble that barely vibrates off Hibari’s skin-he knows that something has changed between them even if Hibari is unable to say it clearly with words.

Affection
He should have left a long time ago, he should have grown bored and discarded the swordsman for something else-but there is something about the slight tilt of Yamamoto’s smile, the way his eyes grow serious in the face of a threat, and the way his tranquility seems to wash over and bathe him in ease-that Hibari could not relinquish nor abandon.

Instead he held on tightly, and refused to let go.
