Yeah.. BUT.. if the Next Gen crew doesn't form as read, then they won't have their boneheaded selves out there, bump into Q and be introduced to the Borg in the first place so the Borg won't get all pissy at Picard and go back in time to stop Cochran.. QED

Pfft....the borg wont be able to resist all this nice, rich plot hole in our sector...gives them lots of elbow room!

Heck the Trek movies have a thing about kill something, bring it back in the next movie, then kill something else. Like, kill Spock (in II) then bring him back in III, kill the Enterprise. So maybe on this grander scale, they should again Time Warp, save Vulcan, kill something else in the next movie, "The Search for Vulcan".

You ignore that the instigator of the Borg encounter was not the trek crew directly, but 'Q' who was fascinated by humans. If not Picard, it would have been another captain & crew. The Borg were destined to cross paths with the Federation, and 20+ years of trek has taught us that this sort of crap ALWAYS happens. Just like it ALWAYS works out fine and gets put back like it never happened. Until this new movie, that is...
