The Catholic Church considers marriage and the priesthood separate vocations, not just traditionally but also sacramentally. She says that these callings require such commitment that would be unfair to expect a single person to adequately perform both, especially when doing so could cause conflicts of interest. i remember that i used to be very frustrated with what i saw in your second example, the youth groups, but in the opposite direction -- people whose attitude seemed to be "i go to youth group and church, so i'm a good christian" and then proceed to cheat or treat other people poorly or whatever else.

I guess it's not terribly relevant, but it took me a minute to connect the pronoun 'she' with the Catholic Church.

Another deep dichotomy comes from the distinction of the Church being female. Since even the men are part of the physical body of the Church. That's the kind of realization that makes a man look downwards every now and then.
