Living at the margins

I visited the arts career counselor last week. She told me that it's nearly impossible to make the staff for a magazine or newspaper right off the bat, so the only way to break into writing is to freelance. I'll likely need to take another job and pursue my major aspiration in my "leisure time." She then gave me a few websites for fellowships ( Read more... )

Over the past few days I wrote you a two separate postcards that are tied together. Both came out of situational spontaneity. I also sent you a book (on a whim), and now that I read about your 'greatest fear' here, I'm thinking that it might be worth more to you than I had previously though. But of course I understand that you're as busy as anyone on earth, and it might be a while before you get around to reading it. That's fine. You may not even read it at all. That's perfectly fine, too--I wouldn't want to burden you with the obligation, but I'm happy knowing that it will be available to you should you ever actually want to read it. Anyhow, keep an eye on your mailbox!
