With the eraser, erase everything BUT his cheek. To be sure you will be able to erase, click on the white box near the little sun, when it is circle by white, it means you can modify it. The black is where it is erased. (take a look here to see how my layer looks like.)

that's not an eraser, it's a mask ;)

Yes the white box is a mask but you use the eraser on it. Or at least this is how I see it :p

well, no you use a normal brush? there is a special eraser tool, that actively erases part of your image and then it can't be recovered... on the mask you just draw.

yes a normal brush, the normal eraser that is on the left of PS. Then I select the mask and erase on the icon where I want the layer to be erased.

I don't know maybe we're talking about the exact same thing but differently.

edit: you know, in case we don't, you should add this to your tuto :p
