my mother had a tumor on her optic nerve affecting the sight in her right eye, about 18 years ago. She found out she had lost sight in that eye at the DMV when she was trying to do the eye test. After a largely invasive surgery as hers was about the size of a Walnut, she survived, recovered with flying colors, but did lose the sight in that eye due to the severity of its invasiveness on her nerves. It took some time but her depth perception got better with time, and now she says she doesn't even notice the difference between before and her sight now. That was after about two years time. She has never had a recurrence and has been just fine since. This is a really scary ass thing to face, but if you stay positive, and keep asking questions and pushing forward you'll be just fine. Good luck to you, you'll be in my thoughts

What else can I say? I'm scared too. You know I'll be thinking of you and I am hoping for the best possible result.
