I am fully in support of small businesses, especially small businesses that donate to the local community and hire locals.
But I don't know why they didn't pay their taxes and such large, vast, enormous amounts of taxes. The taxes are on earnings, so I am missing a large chunk of this puzzle. My immediate reaction is to be completely disgusted and say, "Why didn't you pay taxes like the rest of us, especially with what I assume was a large revenue stream (based on the owed tax amount)?" Obviously, if there are extenuating circumstances, then I should and will change my mind, but the website seems to say it's because they simply failed to pay.
I don't understand why donations are even coming in. Shouldn't they take out a business loan or something instead?
I am generally the bleedingest heart liberal on the planet, but if this is as clear-cut as they state, then as difficult as it is, they need to suck up and take responsibility.
This really bugs me more than maybe it should, but it does.

I read through some of the comments, and I have to say that I really love the idea of them selling gift cards rather than simply accepting donations -- even at fundraising levels (say, donate $20 and get a $10 gift card). Then you are working the business to help the business
