Love.
There is only one word more abused than this, "fuck". It's versatile, flexible, and multi-purpose. The ignorance of this word is nothing new, people have thought of this word incorrectly as long as it's been around. Many people, even myself at one point, think that the word is a symbol. Represented in a quality that is eternal, one which stands uneroded by the flow of time and change. This is not so.
I don't believe in love as magic and make believe. Believing these things in the past put me in enough pain and anguish to rationalize it in my own way. It is as the definition says as far as I'm concerned. A symbol, not inifinitely powerful, that indicates the genetic affect and chemical reactions from companionship and closeness. It's something that can last for a long time or a short time, but never forever. If a section should be added to a definition of a word, it should be a section for common misconceptions.
Websters dictionary holds over 20 different explainations for the noun/verb. In example, the first definition: "A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness." As "ineffable" as this word is, it's continually tried over and over again. In that sense, expressing your love is comparable to trying to express that you are standing or how you feel. It's not an incredible act, it can be mistaken for one because you are describing the truth (if you are honest). This "truth", has become a hard guildeline to walk along. As it can very easily involve you in situations that you would rather not be in. Thereof, courage has to drown your fear of what could be.
This is not satire of a sad, manically depressed man. I have what I have and I love who and what I love, all is appreciated. This is just a thought strain that has progressed itself out of my mind. Another case in which the keys spill my guts onto the screen.
Maybe I won't think of love like this forever, time and experiences are great catalysts for change.
This is now.
