Just talked with my brother about going back to Tennessee to get our mother's finances squared away. He wants me to join him and my sister so we can put up a united front, but, unfortunately, the week they've chosen is the week after Thanksgiving. Sorry this is still on-going. I don't know why I had the impression your mother and other family is in TN. Here is hoping you are all able to come to a workable solution so that no one of you (namely you) are put out so much to make this happen.

How old is your mom?

The symbolic value of a united front can still happen. After she talks to your siblings, you can talk to her and let her know you completely agree with them. I would coordinate with the sibs, of course, but just because you're not physically there doesn't mean you're not present in intent and ability.

Holiday travel is tough and work realities have to be factored in. I still feel bad about not making my brother's wedding all those years ago-which they scheduled on Dec 26 on the east coast. Duh. I wish I'd been there, but in addition to the travel times, we had no money to spend on a trip. It's just how it works.
