According to Boston Globe, a doctor was seriously wounded when he was shot twice Tuesday morning at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, in what appeared to have been a targeted attack. The suspect was later found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

When the suspect arrived at the Harvard teaching hospital around 11 a.m. Tuesday, he had asked for the doctor by name, Police Commissioner William B. Evans said.

“We know he came into the hospital on the second floor, asking for this particular doctor,’’ Evans said. “There was a particular reason he targeted this doctor. ... Right now we’re looking into the possible motive of it.”

The doctor, whose name was not released by authorities, was rushed by his colleagues to the hospital’s emergency room for treatment of life-threatening injuries, police said.
