Yeah, I figured Pierce was the only one who could simultaneously feed Jeff the relevant information, get it all completely wrong, and not figure out why Jeff was so interested.
YAY, thanks for doing my prompt, I've never gotten a more than one-shot out of prompting and I'm so psyched it turned longer than that :DD
This is soo good, miscommunication is just my favouritest type of shipper angst, when it isn't just one party hurting the other but they are both hurting not knowing the truth when a simple honest conversation could have resolved all their fears, hehe, I just love these stupid assholes (that's Tumblr speak for my favourite characters that I ship,to clarify just in case) so much, they are too crazy for each other to think straight, and oh, it hurts so so good. I felt a physical pang at Jeff forcefully rebuffing all of Annie's gestures of affection because he thought what they had wasn't as special as he'd thought, and oh, the image of Annie hugging her midsection, a gesture of emotional pain turned physical is always a suckerpunch for me. LOVELOVELOVE HITTING MY BUTTONS LIKE A BOSS. Did I mention I love getting both POVs? Because I do, I do so very much
( ... )
Though, like I said, it was actually quite tough figuring out how to get to the kiss reveal, while still leaving everyone in the dark about any odd behavior Jeff might exhibit.
I have to say, my favourite type of angst is the mutual, 'just have a conversation and it will all be okay!' type. I'm not a fan of characters actually doing things that hurt each other, either deliberately, or because they've suddenly become oblivious to feelings that they knew were there just the week previously.
I know what you mean about those sayings, though. I'll admit to having felt a bit of that myself, watching Annie and Abed having those little moments. But I figure, if they're that comfortable with one another, then there can't be much in the way of sexual tension, outside the roleplay stuff. Hopefully Dan Harmon figures the same.
Really props to you for figuring out how to navigate all those complex dynamics.
the mutual, 'just have a conversation and it will all be okay!' type. Well, yeah, that's what I meant, I think we called it miscommunication angst in the Doctor/Rose fandom, so I guess maybe it's not a common thing to call it that.
I'm not a fan of characters actually doing things that hurt each other Yeah, that's a no-no. As for oblivious/blind to the other's suffering I only like that if that's according to canon, if the character on the show is really not aware of the feelings of the other character but obviously retconning is a big no. Well, there's also intentionally!oblivious type of strategy which I might like (like, for example, say Annie being determined NOT to read into things after Paradigms of Human Memory and therefore missing/misinterpreting gestures/tells that show actual feelings on Jeff's part, and after all, Jeff can only tell her there's nothing there/no chance there so many times before she might actually start believing it)
Well, yeah, that's what I meant, I think we called it miscommunication angst in the Doctor/Rose fandom, so I guess maybe it's not a common thing to call it that.
Oh yeah, I was agreeing with you, just phrasing it a little differently. Miscommunications are fun, if they don't lead to more serious problems.
retconning is a big no.
That's really what I meant. Take, for instance, the increasingly tragic (in terms of quality) Castle. Back in season 2, they had Beckett start seeing another guy, and suddenly act like she didn't know that Castle had feelings for her, despite tacitly admitting she knew he did a couple of weeks before. Such bad writing.
Me,too, although I'm not nearly as sensitive about these two as anything between JB but I was thinking "This better not be build-up to anything, show". Also, I dunno maybe there's nothing to it but I noticed how Jeff is sort of being pushed out of the love-pentangle, left out, 'cause Britta gets paired up with Troy and Annie with Abed, even the way they are sitting at Xmas (or at the dining
( ... )
Yeah, I can't see how Annie could really look at Abed in a romantic light. She definitely does have a type, and Abed isn't it. Unless he's pretending to be someone else, but the key word there is "pretending". For it to amount to any more than it has so far, the writers would need to twist Abed, Annie or both of them outside of their established characters.
The kiss was problematic, because from what I recall, no one saw it. So I had to put Leonard in there, or the reveal could only have come from Abed or Annie, and like I said in the A/N, it would be followed by them saying that it meant nothing. So yeah, Leonard was on the scene, just at the right moment. Great job, old fella.
Worry not, I will be continuing Applied Human Mechanics, but I've been distracted since Christmas, and haven't really had the time or energy to sit down and write myself out of the dead end I had wandered into.
Yay, I love long stuff, the longer the better, if it flows that way than it's as long as in should be, no need to put restrictions on yourself :D
Ooh, I like those numbers, means it's officially gonna be the longest answer to a prompt of mine, so yay, looking forward to whenever, just glad it's alive ^_^

I love your characterization, it is spot on.
Btw, Abed is half Indian and half Polish.
Cannot wait for more!

That's Danny, but Abed is half Palestinian, he says so in the pilot.

It's on its way, just going a bit slowly. As you'll know from reading my stuff, I have trouble limiting myself in terms of word count.
This was originally intended to be about 5000 words, it's now looking more like 10000.
