I promised writing down what I thought of Dead Space aeons ago, so this post is way over due. In conclusion though, the game delivered and more. I was hoping for a videogame version of Event Horizon which is exactly what I got, but the Unitology plot with all its craziness was an unexpected blessing. Dammit, that just looks absolutely terrific. I should borrow this game from a colleague of mine. The stupid thing is, I have access to almost every game that is released, but I never borrow any of them. I don't have time to play all these games! It's insane! I have so many games I still have to play.

AND I've never seen Event Horizon, which is ridiculous because the name alone makes it a must-see for phyics-loving me.

That would definitely be the correct order of doing things, first see the movie, then (optionally) play the game. Keep in mind that the game is mostly played in corridors, so what you're seeing here doesn't quite reflect it. That said, those corridors do look mighty fine. ;)
I heard that the game was also influenced by Solaris, which I haven't seen yet but has been getting far more positive reviews than Event Horizon.

Solaris I saw. That was pretty interesting. Strangely, it reminded me a lot of a newer movie I saw later (yes), errrrmmmmm The Fountain. That was it. Same sort of bizarre zen-atmosphere.
