The ayatollah of rock 'n rollah!

So last night Mad Max 2 was on the tele and I decided to watch it a little. It's been ages since I've seen it and I guess this is the first time that I realized that Wez (basically the main villain of the movie) is gay. Here's a pic of him and his bf (Wez is on the right):

That's funny, because not too long ago I was kind of disturbed by the way Disney makes its villains always so subliminally gay. Not because I dislike it (often it's pretty hilarious, note Jafar's and Scar's frequent deviant behaviour), but because Disney seems to make the facile equation: gay = evil. Hence, the bad guys have a tendency towards foofiness and limp-wristed characteristics to show there's something really wrong with them.

Mr Kidd and Mr Wint are big win, by the way. That final scene on the boat where Bond tugs one of their crotches with the bomb and the receiving party shrieks in delight... classic.

With Disney they're never gay in an outspoken manner either, are they? We don't want to give children any wrong ideas I suppose. =P

Since watching Macron-1 as a kid I always liked cool gay villains (although I didn't know the guy with the rose was gay at the time, he sure was hella cool). Unfortunately here in the west you just don't see them that often.

That they're not gay in an outspoken manner actually makes it worse, because now it's ALL subliminal. They're not 'gay', they just have all the characteristics we associate with gays (effeminate movement, sleek voices... ever noticed how Scar walks and brushes his hair too the side? Or Jafar with his spidery fingers and pouting lips... and what about Ursula? Classic diva dyke ;) )

And we never see any of their heroes act in such a way. Yeah that's pretty terrible.

Are they really?
I mean, that's the image I have of them as well.. but I don't really know the statistics. But I can name a few who would make Wez a stand up guy in comparison.
