Dumping Grounds

Just some random events bundled in one post.

Let's see.. walked 19 kilometres yesterday from The Hague central station to Voorschoten. It was one of the "NS wandelroutes" and although not spectacular it did in fact became nicer towards the end. Also I saw a whole different part of The Hague which I normally don't see and I was walking with the same guys that I'm going to Norway with this summer (to do some hiking) so it was fun anyway. Saw a couple of storks (ooievaars) close to The Hague which was cool as well.. there was a time when they were (nearly?) vanished, but they seem to have returned now.
The fact that I had to look up what ooievaar translates to in English also painfully reminds me that English might seem like a second language to me, there are still plenty of words (like nature terms) that I don't know about.. but well, live and learn right?

And now that I'm on the subject of exercise, they have this BMI/Fat Percentage meter at our gym and it's starting to make me obsess about my fat percentage. =P Honestly, I'm somewhere between 11 and 12 now and that is way beyond reasonable, I should just drop it.

Movies.. saw Pontypool yesterday (mentioned on Spoonyexperiment.com) which is a Canadian indie horror movie. The only thing disappointing about the movie was that the disc didn't have subs (!@$!%^!). Okay so I imported the thing, but usually you have english subs for the hearing impaired (which I usually switch on so I won't miss a thing). Not this time though, but to be fair, the movie mainly takes place in one location and it could easily have been a radio broadcast. The main actor is really, really cool though and he has a good voice.. so it's all good. ^^
So take a gamble if you like (like I did) and try to find it, but don't expect anything mainstream or you will be disappointed in the end.

While eating breakfast this morning there was a documentary going on about female stunt women and who did I spot to my surprise? Zoe Bell! I discovered that she was Lucy Lawless' stunt double in Xena (which makes sense, since they recorded that in New-Zealand). After that she went to the States and was cast as Uma Thurman's stunt double in Kill Bill where she met Tarantino (during her tryout) and starred as herself in his next movie, Death Proof.
This is where I (consciously) first saw her and I was pleasantly surprised to read (after seeing the movie) that she was really a stunt woman. Her stunts in that movie were incredible and I was really impressed at the time (well still am really^^).

Zoe Bell (wearing the pink shirt and green cap)

At any rate, it was a cool documentary and afterwards I found out she was a double in Inglourious Basterds as well (no surprise there really).
