Benedict has settled well into school life. He loves his peg in the cloakroom which has his name on it in large, red letters. His teacher, Mrs Henderson, called him clever on his first day and won his undying devotion.
There are three girls Benedict refers to as his girlfriends. Kitty is bright and funny and daring, always the first up a tree or into a stream. Lacey is sweet and kind and always wants everyone to hold hands. Jemima is fascinated by building and keeps involving him in making things.
All the boys are his friends and he is very popular. Ben has always been good with other kids. He shares nicely and loves coming up with things to play.
Emma was anxious about how he would cope away from home during the day, but he is fine. He's excited every morning, but equally excited at home time. Her sorrow at seeing him go is made a lot easier to bear by his eagerness to tell her everything he has done all day.
Emma has given me an early anniversary present. She told me yesterday that she has told Richard she will not be available, even in emergencies, for the next week. He is to deal with the business and make any necessary decisions and she is spending the week at home with me. Our anniversary is this Tuesday. I hope to make it a romantic day. Bryony tried to explain anniversaries to Rhiannon today, but Rhiannon didn't really grasp it.
