And yes, I had Tumblr, and then I deleted it, and then I was seduced back to the dark side and started again, but now I mostly ignore it because my LJ is my baby and my complete internet history which will be used to blackmail me someday, I'm sure of it.

I'm definitely not giving up on LJ. Actually, using tumblr for a while might drive me back into livejournal's arms out of sheer desperation. I might start posting on livejournal more!

It's true that tumblr kind of ate LJ but I still like using LJ, for different purposes -- sometimes it gets really loud and obnoxious with them young'uns on tumblr, and LJ feels like a safe haven where people can think in peace.
Your true story is hilarious, btw :D

Livejournal is home, but I do want to be able to wander out into the fandom wilds. And then stumble home at the end of night, muttering about kids these days and shiny things.

I hear you on the eye-bleeding issue. Slowly but surely I'm learning to decipher all the reblogging nonsense and crazy pictures, but basically I am still a grumpy old man about it.
