I don't know if it's your style, but Kate Beaton's Hark! A Vagrant webcomic is quite good. I love all the Canadian history she works into it. However, there is no overall plot, so that might not do for you.

I've seen that one. Definitely very funny, but yes, its not a story. Thanks for the rec though :D

Hellboy! You can pick up just about any of the Hellboy compilation graphic novels, they are all good.

One of my art friends also rec'd those, he said that the art in them is amazing. I'll definitely have to give those a try.

The art is very interesting! It's very stylized and distinctive. Plus the folklore is accurate!

superior_cross! I'm way behind, but it's awesome.

Some of my kids read The Chocolate War and didn't really like it either. At the very least, it's definitely a guy book.

A guy book? Meh. I still don't see how its any good. *pessimist*

I'm looking around on that page you linked to.... maybe I'm completely blind, but where do I find the beginning of the comic? The link I found doesn't seem to work. *lost*

Oh, I have ideas! Return of the Dapper Men (bizarre story, but glorious art!), Page By Paige (about a girl who loves art as she tries to fit in at a new high school), Town of Evening Calm, City of Cherry Blossoms (so overlooked!), Anya's Ghost, Anne Frank: the Anne Frank House Authorized Graphic Biography, the new Kite Runner Graphic adaptation.

If you read others and really like them, let me know. I'm always on the lookout for new graphic novels.

I was about to recommend Anya's Ghost, but I'll just have to second it instead. And also Paige By Paige. I hope your finals go well!
