I just got out of my illustration 5 class where I had a longish talk with my teacher. It wasn't really anything I hadn't been told before either by him or myself, but it was just all at once and at a time when I'm feeling especially stressed ( Read more... )

Aww, *hugs*. I can understand your situation. I guess my best advice would be not to let it get you down for too long, because I think, like you said, it was meant to be encouraging. But don't feel bad that you feel upset either. I think most people would like to be told that they're doing well, and that their efforts are being appreciated; feeling bummed out when we think that we've let ourselves and other people down is usually a good indication that we care about the things we do, right? So I think your reaction is completely reasonable. Either way though, there's really no way to mess this up. I know you're going to work on your craft no matter what, and practicing will always lead to better results. =D

Salamat :D. I think the frustrating part is that recognizing where I need to improve doesn't take as much time as actually improving. I've already recognized most of the weak points in my work that were pointed out, and it was just hard to hear them pointed out. But he was right, and it IS nice that he knows that I can do better work if I just put in the effort.

No problem! Yeah, naiintindihan kita. When I look at my works too I know where I need to improve, but actually improving it takes so much time. Well I wish you the best luck; I have faith that you'd do just fine!

It is a bummer to be confronted with not having done your best...but it really is encouraging to be told you have great things in you. But it is a bummer to get it when you're stressed!
