updates from the humid coast

I've been in Jacksonville this weekend, looking for a place to live during the academic year. I found a cute little efficiency, furnished no less, in Jacksonville Beach. It's about 12 blocks (12 blocks!) from the ocean and the landlords are exceptionally nice. I can't move in for a couple of weeks which is ok because I'm going up to school today ( Read more... )

The efficiency sounds neat. Good landlords are worth their weight in naquada.

Mmmm, pretty, funky kitty.

Good luck with the unnpacking.

They did seem like genuinely kind people and that pretty much sealed the deal for me. That, and it was the nicest place I saw the entire trip.

Thanks for your hugs and good wishes.

Glad to hear you're finding things you can like, though I have no recommendations (and in fact no defense) for the humidity. I think the theory there is that it won't kill you and you'll eventually acclimate.

The cat art reminds me of those angels that were installed all over L.A. for a while, each with a different paint job and all of them incredibly surreal. I've always assumed that was meant as art, but if it was an alien landing, how would we know?

I don't mind humidity so much, though this was pretty oppressive. Made me appreciate how dry NC really is.

I remember those angels. At first I thought they were some very strange religious message rather than art. And I agree, if they were aliens, we probably wouldn't even blink.
