Since I moved here to Charlotte in May, I have yet to find a kindred spirit that is true to the video game universe. I have befriended the owner of a local shop aptly called "Game LAN'd" and have since shown him things he never wanted to know about what games once were and how they had become what they are today. As I held his hand (figuratively) down memory lane whilst I forced him to play ROM after ROM of any and every system (from N64/PSX back to Amstrad and the like) through the emulators on the soft-modded Xboxs I prepared for him; I could see appreciation forming, or maybe it was frustration from being defeated by the ORIGINAL Mario Brothers (NOT "Super Mario Brothers", but rather "Mario Brothers"). He refused to believe that despite his "mad skillz" in Halo 2 (a.k.a. "Exploit 2"), he could not accomplish an 8-bit challenge. I then played against him in "Tennis" for Atari 2600 and a mere two hours later he beat me (not that I'm great, but he played for two hours, an Atari 2600 game, on a 42" Sony Wega, instead of Halo 2).
