I am not really talented at anything. I am not musical. I am not artistic. I was an okay student but not exceptional. I am certainly not athletic! I can write but others write so much better ( Read more... )

But Rose, you do have a wonderful talent! Perhaps it's not any of the things you mentioned but you have people skills! And not only that, but also the good will that makes you use that skill to bring happiness to others.

Maybe that's not something that gets noticed at school - you don't get points for being supportive and kind! But I think that's wrong. Many wonderful people grow up thinking they're not particularly good at anything, and all the time they're helping their friends, solving conflicts, making sure no one feels left out etc.
As a teacher, I intend to find a way to praise and reward those students as well as the ones with outstanding academic skills.

Thank you, White Quill. What a nice thing to say. It meant a lot. And I honestly have no doubt that you will make a great teacher. You interest in the students goes beyond the academic and in my opinion, that separates the great teachers from the good ones.
