First: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope today sucks a little less than yesterday, that you're feeling better and able to enjoy a dose of spring.
I am excited about the new Doctor, because, well, it means something to me (as I think it should to all of us writing in this 'verse) that the story keeps going and literally renews itself -- it's a canon with strong built-in analogies to what we do. But I too am emotionally invested in the characters left behind for the time being, and haven't given up all hope that they'll resurface. There was some discussion from RTD about wanting more Who-crossover in SJA and TW if the series kept going, which may or may not come to anything but shows some willingness to keep the options open. Apparently Moffat was receptive; he may just want to get "his" series established first.
And I note that the guest stars for the final eps haven't been announced yet.

At the very least, I'm holding out for Jack.
