In hopes you have a good day/eve!! Luv n Hugs, Always, ~R~

P.S. I'm in search of two hard to find songs. Very Hard! But if you happen to see them? think of me?

I'm the It Manager at work, so I deal with this CRAP all the time. Seriously.

The thing to remember is that Facebook is not at fault here. Nor is your friend. There's SPAM everywhere -- it just means that we have to be as careful as we can.

And happily you have security in place to avoid being taken in, which is very SMART of you! So pat yourself on the back and feel good about it.

There's no way to avoid dangerous stuff and be online. So I pick online, no matter what. And I bet you do, too -- right? (smile)

What upset me is that I never hear from him and then I figured that I could trust.... I was hurt basically. Funny thing is that my next thought was"Oh yeah, these are school friends not my REAL friends" as in LJ!!!!

I can't find fault with Norton.

It's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that your friend actually sent you the virus. What happens is a person receives a virus. If they don't have anything to guard against it (and sometimes even if they DO), then the virus gets on their computer. Then it goes into their email addresses (without them KNOWING) and it sends out emails that APPEAR to come from them. I've seen this over and over and over again, just so you know.

I really doubt the person in question knows ANYTHING about it, which was my point in the first comment I made. This kind of thing is rarely -- if ever -- actually sent from someone you KNOW.

Plus the people who make this crap can make it look like it's being sent from ANYONE, including the President or Jesus, if they want. It's not that hard...

So I wouldn't blame anyone for the problem. It just IS.

And, again, pat yourself on the back for having Norton. And for being careful about what you do online...

(hugs)

On my "why I'll never have a Facebook account" list, this is now the item #1558 (more or less)

I'm glad Norton blocked it. Wouldn't want you to have computer trouble.

I have computer troubles.
10 days ago I bought a $400 Toshiba for Gama so he would come home and be on video chat 24/7 with his sons in Mexico instead of....y'know the rest.
I installed my Norton and trusted it and Vista to keep an eye on him!
How the hell does he have some crap called GREEN AV that I can't even delete its icons off the task bar?!Every 5 minutes it begs your attention. It is a phishing thing from what I see and pretends to be a antivirus sw-- also popped up a window called WINDOWS SECURITY CENTER that I happened to stick into the search on Vista before giving my permission password-- it went to an unfound internet search, proving that it wasn't from Microsoft. Everything is using that security shield from Windows.

Aaargh!

(And that was how I woke up today! Come see this quick!!! he says cuz he had to hear my eye lids move.)
