Yin and Yang is the Eastern concept of black and white. Yin is darkness, Yang is light - black and white in other words. But neither can exist without the other. If there was no light, what would we know of darkness? If there was no darkness, what would we know of light?

The cynics might be more accurate on most things, but isn’t cynicism the belief that the world is essentially a piece of crap and there’s nothing anybody can do about it?

That's why Batman doesn't kill. I don't think he's got any illusions about the Joker ever being cured or rehabilitated, but he does believe there's a line that can't be crossed. Even the most practical and pragmatic man in the world knows there are things that if you allow even once, will never be right and can never be taken back.

Yeah, the slippery slope. Convince yourself it's all right to kill this or that S.O.B. because they're just totally irredeemable and it becomes much easier to do it a second time. I know how that works.

But you might be onto something.

You can see what it does to people like Tarantula or Vigilante. Their intentions might be honorable, but that doesn't justify their means at all.
