/me peeks around the door

I'm thinking this could be kind of fun once I figure out what the hell I'm doing . . . as I have absolutely *no* programming skills whatsoever.  Meh.  Whatever.

Still, I suppose I should thank Kristel for friends-locking her journal and forcing me to set up an account, which will hopefully (now that I can) force me to comment on some of the buckets ( Read more... )

Welcome to ElJay!!!!

If you want to link to a friends journal in your post (for instance, me) then the command is [lj user="username"] only replace the [] with <>. So I would be [lj user="kristeljohns"] with with other brackets.

So this sentence, Still, I suppose I should thank Kristel for friends-locking her journal and forcing me to set up an account

Would look like this:
Still, I suppose I should thank kristeljohns for friends-locking her journal and forcing me to set up an account

(Assuming I haven't made any errors in typing the commands...)

Also, when discussing shows, it's very handy to use cuts to hide spoilers, like you've seen me do in my journal where you have to click a link to see the bulk of the text. This also comes in handy when making long posts, since people who have you friended would have to scroll down through all the text of a long message on their friends page and sometimes it can get annoying if there's a lot of long posts to scroll past. This is why I tend to do it a lot...you know me, I'm wordy. Also useful if the content of your post is something you know not all of your friends are interested in--for instance, I often warn people that I'll be discussing pregnancy stuff, since I know some people on my friends list don't have the slightest bit of interest in reading all the minute details.

To do a cut, the command is [lj-cut] and at the end of the "hidden" portion [/lj-cut] (again, replacing [ ] with < >). If you want the link to say something other than a generic "read more" then it would be [lj-cut text="your link text here"]hidden message you ( ... )

I'm trying to figure out if I know you or not. You came up on my Evansville filter (we were there at the same time) and I'm trying to find some of my old friends from there. I am also a geek girl. Were you part of the gaming group there? Thanks!

Judging by your username and photos . . . yes, I do know you and remember far too many hours pitching dice at each other.

Just checking my mail on my way out the door (but would love to talk more later),

YES!! YAY!! I hoped it was you, but I wasn't sure. I don't use my real name here, though. I'm adding you.
