I'm embarrassed to admit how much of my headspace today has been devoted to figuring out how Rose and Ginny could meet (given that Harry Potter exists as a fictional work in the Doctor Who universe)

It might not be fictional in the altverse! Anything can happen in the altverse! I mean, true, most of it looked about the same, but I totally think that HP could have developed as a true story in the altverse somehow, as one other variation from our verse. :D

Either that, or when Ten told Donna that there was no Noddy he was lying like a lying bastard, and actually all stories are based on real events (to lesser or greater degrees of accuracy). That would certainly fit in with some of the stuff from the EDAs...

Anything can happen in the altverse!

And and and obviously Rose could have bounced around a whole load of altverses before she found her original universe (the universe-hopping is awesome as a plot device). And hooking up with a witch would explain how she did the appearing-on-the-monitor trick in Midnight; she did it with magic!

That would certainly fit in with some of the stuff from the EDAs...

Oh, definitely, it's all but outright stated in the EDAs that Harry Potter's based on real events the Doctor was involved with.

I'm manfully fighting the urge to spend this weekend mainlining the HP series.

I love love love stories where Rose visits lots of altverses before finding her real verse. LOVE THEM.

Ahaha, I have not read that EDA yet clearly, but they do more than hint at that sort of thing in several! Which is one thing I love about the EDAs. I love the possible expansion of canon availability.

Have you not read HP? Or do you just need to reread? Either way, DO IT, it will not be a waste of time!! :D
