So...

Nov 18, 2010 04:27

I just saw the new Harry Potter film.

Wow...what the hell did I just see?

I'd type more, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone here.

Just...wow.

At least the one scene that I hated the most in the books didn't make it to the film. Thank god for that!

Oh wow! I wondered how they would handle the Lupin/Tonks bit about going on the mission with them - glad to know it's not there. And I agree, it would've made Lupin look like an utter ass.

I knew about the Harry/Hermione snog - and since I am a slight H/HR shipper, it'll provide fodder for my overactive imagination. ;)

I'm really interested in the Snape, Malfoy, Voldemort scenes - I love what I've seen so far. How close to the books are they in your opinion?

Go on for ages, spill your guts... I don't mind. ;)

Oh man, if you're Harry/Hermione shipper, than this film certainly caters to you. I swear Steve Kloves is a Harry/Hermione shipper himself ( ... )

It's not a bad film, just very different to the other films. They managed to get pretty much everything from the book in there, but they probably could have cut out at least 20 minutes or so of the trio in the woods. Mind you, I felt that those scenes went for too long in the book as well, so that could just be me being biased!

This film is miles different than Philosophers Stone, that's for sure! I say see it for yourself, but be prepared for a much more adult-themed movie than previous instalments.

Not a problem. I can take adult themes pretty well. I am 27 XD so sex and heavy blood is not a worry for me. As long as I don't see canon penetration I'm fine XD

I watched it.

I thought it was really well done! Finally! One Harry Potter movie where I came out pretty satisfied! A few things bugged me though... quite a lot of Harry/Hermione fanservice. Was the makeout and them being naked really necessary? They had clothes on at first! Sheesh! The dance was kinda silly, but still pretty fanservice-y to me.

Also, they didn't quite explain how the two death eaters who attacked them in the restaurant managed to find them. Ron was supposed to explain that the word "Voldemort" was what gave them away. So when they arrived at that forest and the snatchers were already there, they left a hole to explain that one.

But other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the film! Dobby was kind of annoying though...

Oh god, I know what you mean about the Harry/Hermione fan service. My friends all looked at each other during the dancing scene as if to say "Dude, WTF are we even watching?". The scene with the locket just kind of weirded me out. Seeing Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson making out naked like that just felt incestuous after seeing them grow up alongside each other for all of these years. And yeah, did they really have to be naked? I know that's how it was in the book, but seeing it on screen was just a bit confronting, purely because of who it was.

Oh, you're right, they didn't explain that at all, did they? That's silly! They had more than enough screen-time to add that extra little bit of information. I did like the film though. It was just very different to what I had been expecting!

I thought the locket scene was fine... until they were naked and kissing. You can feel how intense and scary they both were, talking down on Ron, until suddenly, THEY'RE NAKED AND KISSING! WHUT ( ... )

I'm pretty certain the version you saw was edited. I kind of wish the one I saw was too ;_;

Yeah, I liked the scene with George walking in on Harry and Ginny as well, although, I have no idea what was up with that toothbrush!

I also loved that Lupin and Tonks were only depicted as being happy together. Lupin still got to rage a bit at Harry, but at least he didn't have that stupid scene from the book where he tried to join the trio on their quest. Instead, in the film, he was even cracking jokes! He was much more like the Lupin we saw in Prisoner of Azkaban.
That made me happy.

I knew some crazy stuff was going to go down when they announced it was PG-13. I was curious how this was going to work out anyway. I mean, the book is very dark (although arguably, I read it quite a while ago, so i'm a little hazy). Although, the thought of the make out scene kind of scares me. Was the nudity necessary? I mean, making out is one thing. Making out nude means something entirely different. Woah there, film makers. I'm thinking someone in the writing staff was too much of a HxH shipper.

The nudity was just...urgh. I'm no prude, but as I've mentioned before, seeing Harry and Hermione so intimate just seems incestuous. And, they're REALLY going for it too!

I've always suspected that Steve Kloves in a HxH shipper. That's probably why he kept giving them these little bonding scenes in Half Blood Prince that weren't in the books. I hated how at the end of Half Blood Prince, only Harry and Hermione are discussing all of the important and vital things they'll be doing now that Voldemort had returned, while Ron just kind of sits to the side being useless. DAMN YOU STEVE KLOVES! I don't ship either Harry/Hermione or Ron/Hermione, but god damn, is it really that hard to stick to the canon couples? People who haven't read the books must think that Harry secretly loves Hermione, especially after this latest film.

Was it the scene which lasted for like 5 chapters in which Ron and Hermoine argue while they camp in the forest forever? UUUGGGHHH
