Written on plain but fine paper in a flowery script. The wax bears the seal of the House of Flora:

Death, War, Pestilence, and FABULOUS! )

The universe is falling apart at the seams and I am surrounded by idiots.

My dear Principessa, I could not agree more. Perhaps you would like to discuss it further over wine.

I should be delighted to have another chat with you, Your Excellency.

I wonder, though, if our lists of idiots have much overlap.

We'll talk. Later.

Principessa, we're sending our top men.

And by men, I mean my nephew and niece. The former is a plague specialist, the later, entrusted by the Crown with His Own Health.

It would be more impressive if the Crown were ever actually worried about His own health enough to let me perform a basic physical.

I have long considered it a primary benefit of being at sea that I find myself surrounded by fewer idiots. Those idiots who do remain nearby may then be flogged as a warning to the rest.

Note to self. Sail more.

When flogging fails, keelhauling gets the point across. Lower survival rate, but that's also a lesson to the rest.

Sailing is full of instructive life lessons.
