Need help with LJ!

I'm trying to embed my LJ into my website and it Will. Not. Work. I have a paid account, I've used the info from the developers page regarding the ways to embed, when when I add the html or javascript it just shows up as code writing on the actual webpage. So frustrating!! Can anyone spare a moment to help me with my LJ disability?
