Rrrrrrrip it

It may be that I have some strange mental quirk (stop sniggering minniemoll) but I am unable to tweeze my own eyebrows. If it wasn't for the fact that I don't wish my brow to be considered a last resting place for a particularly hariy caterpillar I wouldn't do any more than waft one of those facial wax strips at them every so often as a last resort. I just ( Read more... )

You are braver than I!

Odd query of the day: How do you learn to tweeze your eyebrows? Are there books on the subject? Is it just instinct?

I just practiced. It's not something I recommend; there are photos of me in my 'Tadpole Eyebrow' phase, as well as my 'Weirdly Vulcan Eyebrow' phase to prove that. :)

Is it wrong to desperately want to see a photo of your 'Weirdly Vulcan Eyebrow' phrase?

Mostly (1), although only on the rare occasions when I detect a resemblance to Liam Gallagher when looking in the mirror. Mostly, I just let my eyebrows do what they please.

I am too frightened of the things that my eyebrows might get up to to let them run wild and free. But mostly I'm glad that I'm very pale and my eyebrows aren't that noticeable.

Brave!

Do you have any tips for when I'm feeling brave or poor enough to try?

I use pink Tweezerman tweezers from Boots.

I only do one hair at a time, and then only from below the arch, never ever from above

I never do too many hairs on one eyebrow at a time, so I don't end up lopsided.

I always pull in the direction of the hair growth.

Sometimes I hold the tweezers with one hand and hold the skin by the hair taut with a finger on the other hand.

I don't bother putting an icecube on the eyebrows first, but some people do.

Lucky you. Mine are fairly invisible in colour, but do tend to grow rampantly. I only hope they slow down as I age :)
