Why are you trying to get a goldfish to roar?

I must hear this majestic phenomenon for myself!

Uh... I don't think they are capable of making any vocal sounds.

Er, I don't think goldfish roar. I think you need a big throat in order to do that. I'm fairly positive the best the average goldfish could manage would be an assertive 'pip'.

Perhaps a very LARGE goldfish could roar...?

Do you think so? These were the largest that the pet store had!

I don't think the pet store would have the size I'm thinking of, that could possibly have roaring potential.

No, no, the size goldfish that I think may possess r. p. are these monstrosities you hear of now and then, that sort of get forgotten about in largish ponds for a few decades. Then someone goes, 'oh, let me look at Tiddles, I haven't seen him since I wore short pants', and you have a look at the pond to find that Tiddles has grown to the size of a Saint Bernard. The dog, not the saint.

I see! Then what I must do is search the ponds in the area for those poor abandoned goldfish, left with nothing to do but grow!

Of course! I certainly can't just take them back to the pet store once I'm done with my experiment, after all!
