July 25th 2006... that was when I first stepped into this City. I left on the 14th of January and the next time I came here was on August 13th, seven months after that and have been here since.
It'll be a complete three years this time. I've met so many people in that time, and made so many friends. I've felt more than just friendship for a few as

Also, hey guitar, Shinji can dig some of that. Elvis, who wouldn't? Even if it's a little outdated... he doesn't mind listening from up over Xanadu's tree canopy the plebe-row seating. Maybe she's feeling a little better by now... ]

It's easy on the guitar, anyway, and once she finishes one of her songs, she sighs, setting it to a side and leaning back until she's lying down on the grass and staring up at the sky through the tree branches' shade et all. Arms under her head, she sighs softly, closing her eyes for a moment-- before blinking. She thought she saw someone there and while she can usually detect humans or magic-users by signature, this presence is somewhat different.
It's not an enemy though, she hopes. So she closes her eyes once more, her tone slightly amused. ]
If you have any requests, you need only share them. I know quite a few songs off the top of my head.
[ She can at least offer the courtesy of letting them know she's aware they're there. At most it'll just look like she's talking to herself if she's mistaken. ]

Well, he isn't going to leave her hanging. Wouldn't've bothered coming by if he was planning on that, at least. Pausing only a moment longer, he shunpos to the ground, a little distance from where she's lying, and walks over. ]
I'm just crashin' the show.
[ Though it seems more like the after of the after-party. ]
Got nothin' else left in the queue?

Taking a break. I'll start back as soon as I collect my thoughts. Have a seat, Shinji.
[ Turning back to look up to the sky above, she sighs. ]
The King has a way of making you feel immensely nostalgic, you know?
Reply
Yeah.
[ He looks up too - and the view's all right, even if the sky's seemed strange since coming here, for days and days... and days. It isn't unlike Karakura in that regard. He could count differences all he wants but there's little point when it adds up to just not the same. Whether it matters after that at all...
But he isn't looking for answers to that anyway. Vengeance has long been his most deliberated concern. ]
Yeah, there's a lot to be nostalgic 'bout. King really wrenched the gut of it. So you missin' the home you came from or the home certain people've made out of this joint for you?
Reply
No kidding.
[ But his next words make her stop, and look up for a bit.
The home I came from or the home people have made of this place...?
She's quiet for a bit, before sitting up slowly, her arms to her sides as she shakes her head to get any grass that might have wanted to stick to her hair off. Then, after some thought, she replies. ]
The home... I remember coming from.

I've forgotten a lot. About what I was doing before I came to the City the second time. Even reading back on the things I said I was doing doesn't add up. Strange, isn't it? And yet...
[ She looks at the guitar to her side. ]
Before I came here the first time... I remember most of everything. My boyfriend, his friends... my life.
[ A weak chuckle escapes her as she looks ahead then. ]
Heh, what does it matter. I'm not even sure I'm making sense right now, am I?

You make as much sense outta this place as anyone can. For the most part, trying to seems like all we can do about this place. Though you've probably had enough of that by now, haven't you?
[ He glances at her sideways, then looks back up. He doesn't mean to make light of it - rolling with the punches is his innate reaction. Still, memory is a persistent sorta thing. If you can't keep it, is it better to let go or cling with all you've got? Easy or not, the choice'll come down to... ]
You think it'll make a difference, even if it does matter?
Reply
Will it make a difference... ]
No. Not really.
[ Smiling to herself, she moves her knees up to her chest, her arms over the top and rests her chin on top of her arms. ]
But after making all these memories, to have to forget them when we go back... with the only possibility of remembering them being returning here... It's not fair at all, is it?
[ Sighing, she chuckles a bit, glancing over at him now. ]
Guess I've been here way too long if worrying about forgetting the people I've grown close to here takes precedence over what I'll remember when I'll be able to return to when I go home, and what I can't recall from my time there.
Reply
...Humans may not be as used to that idea. ]
No point in denyin' it. There ain't nothin' that'll make it fair.
[ Yet it happens anyway. He meets her gaze and offers a grin. ]
And even if it ain't exactly like you remember, you'll find your home at the end of it. Might as well enjoy what you can of this place while you're here, right? Just 'cause things don't last us forever... doesn't mean they ain't happenin' at all.

Wouldn't have met all my friends and you without this place.
[ She figures, she supposes, that having had Shinji here... even from their first meeting to now, has been a bit of an eye-opener for her. She'd avoided people from that world, that world of Arrancar and Shinigami-- and yet all it took was another accidental meeting for her to befriend two from that very world.
Sort of counter-productive, and yet... hardly unexpected. ]
Shinji...
[ She lifts her head, watching him thoughtfully. ]
I haven't known you for very long, but... I appreciate your company. It's...
[ An embarrassed little chuckle escapes her. ]
It's been a while since I've gotten to talk to someone like this.

That so, Megumi-chan?
[ He says it thoughtfully and pauses long enough so the words don't seem as casual as they otherwise might. Then he stands stretches out his arms before offering her a hand. ]
It ain't too late to go talk more over dinner or dessert. Have you eaten anythin' all day?
Reply
That's so!
[ A light laugh escapes her, as she shakes her head at the next question, moving a hand over her forehead before she smiles wryly. ]
Ah... that's a good question. I had some snacks, but dinner sounds good right about now. Then I'll play some more after, if you'd like!
[ Standing up then, she smooths her skirt down, dismissing her guitar into her space pocket, before she stands in front of him. Suddenly struck by something of an awkward thought, she blinks... before moving a hand behind her head. ]
Heh, goodness. I haven't felt comfortable enough to do this in a while, but...
[ She chuckles a bit then. ]
Are you alright with being hugged?

[ But the question being asked at all is awkward so he's not going to actually assault her with a hug himself. ]
