So my new current passion on television is Law and Order UKI suppose it would be a natural event. I have been a LO girl for quite some time. Although I was sorry that the original was canceled, it had become a bit creaky. Sam Watterson was beginning to show some age and frankly it had lost so much heart since Jerry Orbach had died. I watch the UK version when I catch it on BBCA. I don't particularly adore the original or spin-offs. The thing I like is the way the cops work. It's less "bang down the door and let everyone in a six block radius know what's going on" and more actual investigating.

That is why I always enjoyed the franchise so much is that it was less of a "Book 'em Danno" feel about it. The earlier shows were very gritty. I loved that they showed the assistant DA's working in what seemed to be a bullpen of an office. Like what a underpaind DA would be actually be working in. And the cops were great up until Orbach left. They picked guys who looked like they could be walking around NY. And even in the spin offs the cops wore cheap suits, had crappy desks and nothing high tech on top of them.

Exactly. The beginning was the antithesis for CSI or Bones. There was a more realistic feel because everyone was gritty and the endings weren't always happy. Sometimes they were just horrible. And that was nice. It was nice to not have a bow wrapped up.

I like the UK version because it's less polished.
