I didn't realize how close I came to being in a tornado yesterday. 62 tornadoes touched the ground in NC, and two carved paths just to the right and the left of where we were staying (we were dog sitting in Raleigh this weekend). I do remember that the dog's ears pricked up and she starting shivering, and then the wind got incredibly strong, and ( Read more... )

I'm glad you & Jared are OK too. It was certainly a bit scary!! When we thought we wouldn't have power for several days and realized we'd have to toss all of our food, it helped knowing that if that was all we lost, we were blessed indeed! It's amazing how God shows you these things. I heard some testimony on the radio this morn about the devastation - several folks mentioned that when their houses were torn up, their kitties went missing; it's interesting that I told Andy the one thing I was scared of the most is not that our house would be destroyed (we have home owner's insurance, after all), but that my cat Anne (who is feral) would vanish.

Yes, we are indeed blessed.

Anyway. I mentioned to my husband about being able to hear the tornado coming too, if it happened, and he said that in this area, one strange phenomenon is that supposedly you can't hear a tornado coming. I dunno how much truth is in that, but it sure scared me!!

Hearing about all those NC tornadoes was scary! I'm glad that you and your family are OK. I talked to my mom yesterday, and she said that the storm didn't hit north Raleigh as badly, so everyone there is fine too, thank goodness! The weather on Saturday was unbelievable -- even in VA we got lots of rain and heavy wind, as well as a tornado warning in several counties.
