Let me set up this post for you. I have Yahoo mail and they bring you to their page when you log out. I always look at the little boxes that are there to see if theres any interesting stories that I might like to read. Today I saw one that caught my eye. The only advice I can give about finding a job at a school is to put your application out everywhere. Buffalo has an online application. I don't know if you use the Central NY one, but this is the web link... https://www.pnwboces.org/teacherapplicationSSL/default.aspx?region=04

And although it can be a royal pain in the butt, I found that subbing really helps, too. I subbed for 10 different districts before I got my full-time job. Once people get to know you and start requesting you and you become a familiar face in a building, the administrators notice. Promise.

Also, teacher recruitment days can be good too. I know they say it's impossible to get a job from TRD, but a girl I worked with last year actually was offered a job in a fantastic school district all stemming from her interview at TRD.

Pathetically enough I have been subbing for over five years now. I think I'm at a total of four districts at this point but right now I'm only working for one. I just can't sub anymore. I am definitely doing the TRD this year and I'm hoping to find more like it between now and then. I think that out of state is my only choice right now. There won't be many opportunities here (thanx tons Governor Anti-School Patterson) and those there are will have over 100 people applying to each as there was last year. I am hoping that people I know will hear of openings and let me know. I did over thirty applications last year but all within an hr and a half of Oz because of school. Now that's not a worry so I can apply anywhere. I NEED a job and soon!
