Inspired by Facebook today to ask you all: what scares you most? I'm thinking particularly of horror films (and the recent Doctor Who episode that gave me nightmares), but anything else in your imagination will do
( Read more... )
this is a hard one - in a lot of ways i'm quite fearless and not easily scared by the likes of horror films etc. however, there's a couple of things which do utterly freak me out - the eye-slicing scene in un chien andalou, which i saw when i was about 6 or 7 and has utterly scarred me for life. just the thought of it makes me grind my teeth and feel very very uneasy.
the other thing isn't so much a fear as a phobia i guess, and it's having gunk on my hands. getting my hands a bit mucky is fine, so long as i can wash them as soon as i've done what i need to do, but, like on the zombie shoot for example, when jodie wanted me to plunge my hands into the jelly/banana mixture and cover myself in brains, i could not do it. the thought of the texture of the goo and it being stuck to me for ages and all the stickiness was horrid. i wanted to do it and not be pathetic as everyone else was happily covered in muck, but i couldn't.
so i guess those are the two things that freak me out most.
Heh, you are not the only one with the gunk phobia, Andy was also completely freaking out about having brains on his shoulder - he made me get them off with a stick!
I also have a bit of a thing about getting dirty, and I hate doing things like sitting on grass without some kind of barrier, which sounds worryingly OCD now that I've written it down. Once I'm already mucky though I figure I might as well get as mucky as possible!
that would explain andy's look of pure horror when the gloop was dolloped onto his jacket. it was horrrrrrible gloop!
i know what you mean about the grass thing, though i think i'm more afraid of getting grass stains on my clothes or sitting in a puddle of mud/poop than actually getting dirty. more self-preservation than actual fear i suspect.
I get a bit freaked out by mirrors, especially if there's more than one with reflections of reflections. Creepy! Films where things move or are different in mirrors are scary. Even Poltergeist 3...for a bit anyway :)
Sorry I didn't get in touch last week. I had one afternoon in London and not nearly enough time to do stuff!
I know what you mean about the mirrors, they make me jump a lot. Plus the steamed-up ones where you know either some creepy writing is going to appear or when the mirror clears there will be someone visible in it. I hate thinking I've just caught sight of something in a mirror that shouldn't be there!
No worries, I figured you might be a bit rushed! Would love to see you soon though.
