Today the record player I ordered is scheduled to arrive. I hesitate to call it a stereo as it pales in comparison to the massive stereo equipment we had in the 70's. That is SO damn cool, E! And this too brings back memories!
Back in the day, I had friends who were these CRAZY audiophiles and one of them would swing by my apartment and say, "C'mon, we're gonna go see so-and-so's system, it's INSANE!"
And it was, and they were, lol.
One of my life's biggest regrets is that I once had two (2) full boxes of 60s/70s LPs and a certain family member, who will remain unnamed except on my eternal sh!tl!st, took them without my knowledge and apparently sold them for whatever. We can probably guess what the "whatever" was.
In the whole collection of probably 120 albums, there were two (2) scratches.
Aside from thieving offspring, one of the worst things for vinyl records is uncontrolled heating and cooling in storage where they may warp so badly that the tonearm will bounce out of the grooves. There is a fix for that, probably found online by now, if you have to deal with that.
Good luck and hope you have LOADS of fun with this...

Thanks for the tip on "in case they are warped." I may need that info. *fingers crossed
I know some of the albums are in pretty crap condition because they were used a lot. I am so looking forward to the album cover art. I miss that.
Sad story about your records.
And, I am most definitely looking for FUN so I am bound to find some.
