I fail at life.

May 29, 2013 16:52

I felt up the other day, but even if I do succeed at the second job I don't think they're going to be able to give me enough shifts to give me enough money to support myself, especially after my main job switches their scheduling. (Which will give me some extra money but not a lot.) If I hadn't failed in the other house it would be different but ( Read more... )

What was the issue with putting air in the tires?

I bought this pump, which is really for use on the road, and also this gauge. I wanted to be able to buy a tube (haven't done that yet) and be able to fix a flat in an emergency. (Mostly because I need the bike to get to work, and also because I have no one to come pick me up in an emergency.)

So I decided to see if I could use them, and I... couldn't. I know they're for the kind of valves I have, but I couldn't get them to work, and I wound up letting air out of the tires instead of putting it in. The gauge seemed to work sometimes, but the pump just didn't. My roommate tried the pump too and it didn't work for him either.

I just feel so damn stupid. I should buy a regular pump too, but I feel so horrible asking how it works. And I need to get these other things to work too.

Which style of pump did you get? I know some of them are a bit goofy to use and you have to lock them on to use them. My bf's pump works the opposite you would expect to lock it on. The lever is raised up to lock and add air. When the handle is "down" (parallel to the hose) it is open and not locked down.

His pump looks like this: http://amzn.com/B000ENMLEG

Also I know with my gauge, it came with an insert for presta installed and to check my tires that are schrader (like car tires), I have to take the insert out.

Neither was at all obvious. Damn bike stuff!

This is the pump. It's really meant for road use. It had instructions on how to set it up for a Schrader valve, and it also locks when the handle is raised, but it still wouldn't stay on and pump up the tires. I need a regular pump too. I'm tempted to buy it at the bike store so they might teach me how to use it but their stuff is so damn expensive.

This is the gauge. It's meant for Schrader valves and I did get it to work sometimes. Maybe part of the problem is that the tires got too deflated to really use it.

I really don't know what I'm doing. But I need to learn, because I need the bike to get around.

Thank you very much for the help. I really appreciate it.

We all feel like failures, even successful people.

I know that's true. But I look at myself and I have nothing to show for my life and I don't even know where I'm going to live and it's like I can't take it anymore. But I shouldn't angst all over everybody yet again...

It's okay to let your frustrations out. We all feel like we've messed up now and again. Nobody is perfect. *hugs*

*hugs* Thanks. I know no one is perfect but sometimes I feel like I can't do anything right at all.
