Brilliant and beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I e-mailed a link to your LJ post to Michael; perhaps between burping and changing (the baby) he will have time to read it...
Messy. While they were both good enough parents, I remember Mom and Dad fighting a lot when I was little. I just wanted there to be peace.
As I got older, the fighting stopped--or at least decreased a lot. My parents got along, but they never really displayed a whole lot of affection to each other past the occasional hug or kiss when leaving the house.
I know things could have been a lot worse, but they also could have been a lot better. C'est la vie..
My parents seemed to have a very normal relationship growing up.
They kept any real fights they may have had behind closed doors (that was personal) but did not sugar coat their lives to me claiming that they did not argue. They were also warm and affectionate with each other but not too much in public or in front of us kids to make matters awkward.
They taught me through their actions that parents are people who love each other, sometimes get mad at each other, respect one another a great deal, share in the good and bad times, and still go out on a date together with no kids or jobs or anyone else but the two of them.

On another note Mr H.K. ("Oberon") replied to my eMail request to glance over my headhshot proofs with "Sure I'll look at them. I need a good laugh"
You can tell him A: I laughed when I read this and B: sent my "Warm Wishes" to him in the dressing room of "Shakespeare in the Pond"

Plus they can really get down and boogie.
Go Mom and Dad
