'Ello Friends, Lovers and Partners in Crime,

I'm going to put all this behind a cut tag because there is a lot of it. Nothing bad, just a lot of it

Life continues well here in Burbank. I've gotten (will be getting) a minor promotion at work. While nothing to celebrate over it puts more money in my starving actor pockets, so I'll take it.

I got to go home to OK twice over the past summer. Once to fulfill a promise to fly home for a Weird Al Concert (which was great of course) and the other for a few birthdays and Shakespeare in the Park.

"Macbeth" (yes I said "it") was sadly the weakest of the three. However, it was opening night and I did get to see a few long distance friends who I would not have seen otherwise. "Midsummer" was very good and had some terrific performances on the part of Oberon, Puck, Bottom, and Robin Starveling (Moonshine). A real put your best actors in the best parts show.

But the best show was "Cyrano". Doug Brown is usually cast as a comic relief and forced to rely on his standby shtick. Said bits are very funny, but Doug is much better than that an rarely given the chance to shine. His Cyrano is funny, fast, touching, noble and made me cry at the end. A supporting cast (Kudos to David, Daniel , Bubba, Hal and Sara) made this a great night of theatre. Bravo all!

About a month or so ago I walked over to get a ticket for the "Tonight Show" again. I love the fact that it's within walking distance. So this leads me to a few more

"Celebrity Encounters"

Big and Rich

Best known to country fans (i.e. not me) for "Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)" Very cool and entertaining. Also generous. The played two more numbers after the cameras stopped rolling and stuck around to sign some autographs.

Chelsea Handler

Host of "Chelsea Lately" on E! Quite frankly a rude gossipy witch.

Robin Williams

Best known from "Mrs Doubtfire", "Good Will Hunting" and...well duh, it's Robin Williams. A force of nature and just as funny when the cameras are off. Very friendly as well.

I also met while doing background work...

Neil Patrick Harris

Best known as "Doogie Howser" and from the show "How I Met Your Mother" Very nice, relaxed and approachable.

I will be on an episode of "How I Met Your Mother" airing (I think) Oct 1st. Check for the episode title "We're Not From Here"
My car (a silver two door Ford) will be in a scene with Neil as he and a friend try to pick up two ladies on the streets of New York. I am parked almost right in front of them.
Later in a restaurant scene (akin to TGI Fridays) I'm sitting just behind the main actors and eating some birthday cake. Look for my Hawaiian shirt.

I also have another Encounter, but this time in the workplace. I had to go over to another store to help out for the day and answered some questions for none other than

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Best known as "Buffy" from "Buffy The Vampire Slayer". Really, really nice.
I saw her walk in and gave a quick look of surprise when I realized who she was. She approached me, understood my look to mean "Wow, I know who you are and am a fan, but I promise not to make a big scene" which was accurate.
So, I treated her as a normal customer and answered her questions. Alas, we did not have the item she needed but after she thanked me and left I realized "treating her as a normal customer" caused me to go into "politely flirt with the pretty girl mode". And, I think she flirted back. Go me!

Two bits of acting news rounds out this entry.

1. I got a call from Central Casting (the background work people). This is new for me as I usually call them. Casting Agents for the show "Ghost Whisperer" had seen my picture on Central's website and wanted me to be in an upcoming show, I may have not had any lines and simply been a "Featured Unknown" but this is a nice thing that they are calling me now.
However, a few hours later I was called back to say that the offer had been rescinded because the show needed to meet a Union Quota. They said they would keep me in mind for future episodes and the lady at Central also promised to remember me for other work. Now I'm a "Potential Featured Unknown"
Oh well! I don't regard this as a bad thing. I was still noticed and was not dropped because of personality or the wrong look, just a numbers thing

2. Here as promised are the results of my headshots. While I own over 400 pictures these are the ones I'm going with.
Enjoy, mock, judge or give constructive remarks if you like.

All are looks I will be considered for in todays market

The "Best Buy Commercial" look. Used for commercial auditions and computer geek type roles

The "Young Detective or Lawyer" look. Used for roles like "CSI" or "Law and Order"

The "Young Corporate or White House Staff" look. Used for roles like "West Wing" or "Boiler Room"

The "Playboy in Training" look. Used for roles like a "Young Bruce Wayne" type

The "Best Friend" look. Used for roles like "Feste" or "Warm and Goofy Best Friend" type

The "Creepy Guy" look. Used for roles like "Drug Dealer" or "Sociopath" type

The "Warm Leading Man" look. Used for "Intelligent, Warm and Funny Romantic" type

That last picture will be the primary headshot I mail out to people.

Hope you like them. I think they turned out well.

Finally, here is
