In my AP English class we read Hamlet and each of us had to memorize a passage. I chose Ophelia's lament of flowers in Act IV Scene V. Then we had to write a paper over our passage and its themes as well as significance. Once I started analyzing the passage and the flowers/herbs she refrences her character spoke to me. I simply wrote about how each correspond to a theme in the play...how some say this was where she went mad and was dillusional but I find it to be her strongest moment of all. After doing word etymoly on each flower I discovered the meaning behind her last lament...not much of a take so I'm excited to hear what you have to say!
