One LONG Day...

It's the first day of the Freshman Orientation session we decided to attend.

After being kept up until 2:30am by certain toddlers who will be unnamed in this post, I got up at 6am and pulled myself together while daughter did the same.  By 6:30 we were driving into the butt crack of dawn, since the University of North Carolina Wilmington is on the ( Read more... )

No knives, just a vegas-style marquee with college-y things drawn over it, stethescope, brain, open text book, clock tower, laptop, calculator, and lab equipment. There's a large awkward wrinkle through the word "happens," due to me needing to have one arm in a position to push the button for the picture.

It says, "What happens in Wilmington stays with you forever." One can hope that's true of a good education.

What a nice day (well, minus the toddler, but btdt) and I remember walking up to my freshman dorm and being greeted by name by all the RA's and staff. (They memorized our names and pictures). I never forgot that.

That's really cool! I don't know if they did that with our kids today. They had about two hundred there out of the class of nearly 2000.

Probably the RAs will do something like that in August, though. We get her back tomorrow and then we will hopefully have information that will help get ready for the more permanent situation.
