Starting the Query Submissions Again!

Well, I'm just about to start my...well, I guess this would be my second attempt to query this manuscript. Right now I'm sending out to agents who only want query letters and no sample chapters. As I look through the websites and query submission guide lines (even though I've thoroughly checked all of these before when I compiled the list) I am ( Read more... )

Yeah, if they don't state it clearly they don't have room to complain :P I've noticed some agents change their tastes from what's listed in Marketplace. They could also always have two blogs, or at least two sections "About me as a literary agent" "About me as a person"

Querying is a lot harder than writting the book sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I love doing this (it's one of the many ways that I know I was meant to be a writer because even the tedious, frustrating things are more enjoyable to me than going into a 9-5 job). So while I may grumble, I'm still going to do it because I kinda have to-lol.

I agree! To make it easier on myself, I've been trying to work out the work on my new draft as I go along. It's still doomed to months of rewrites though, ugh :P

When are you going to send it to me? Don't rush it if you still want to tweak it, but I'm ready for it whenever.

Good luck with round 2!

Most of the agents I decide to query rep authors I like, so I haven't really encountered the problem of not knowing what an agent wants. On the other hand, I don't query nearly as many people as it seems most writes do so maybe that's why I don't have the same frustration?

Thanks! I'm debating wether I'm going to blog the journey...I probably will because I'll need the support-lol.

I am querying all the agents who rep my favorite authors but I'm also querying agents where the agency itself says it reps what I write. Then there are the agencies who say, make sure you target the specific agent within this agency who reps the genre you write but then you go to the bio page and there is a nothing to specifically say what the individual agent's looking for. I don't really encounter this all that often but I've certainly encountered it.
