1) Up to you. We drove coz that means more stuff than a bus and means you have transport when here.

2) There is a clicks, mr price, checkers, expensive designer place, p&p, legit, edgars, woolworths, truworths and/or focheni (spelling? I don't remember which). There's also a random under the arch place for proudly SZ stuff.

3) All reses connected within *and* to one another *and* to computer labs

4) Yes. And some tut work with questions. We've done nervous conditions, hard times, great gatsby, crucible, romeo and juliet, midsummer night's dream, waiting for godot, ubu and the truth commission and City of glass.

2.) Cool. Was thinking of buying most of my clothes there (mostly 'cause I want new stuff! :D ) COuld you maybe just verify if there is a Truworths Man? 'Cause between that and Edgars, I'm set ( ... )

2) will try and do today. Its quite far away from us... (by the cathedral).

3) you, my friend, have no idea. no idea at all... but since its illigal to talk about fightclub, you'll have to wait and see ;)

Next question: nope, sorry, for a BJourn you only have 11 credits. You can do 5 in first year (if you got enough points in matric) but then you do 3 in second year, 2 in third and 1 in last (Journ). I know it sounds like sacralige... but you may wanna drop drama 1 because a) its same stuff as in highschool and b) doing drama and journ is torture and highly unrecommended by both departments because both demand *all* your free time.

Do phil and ling in first year and then you may decide to drop one for second year. Else, you may not get into journ2 (a possiblility we all have to consider) and then you'll be able to continue with them as majors as opposed to being stuck with drama you don't want to continue and one of them you have to do. Does that make any sense?

Don't worry, I love answering questions about my lovely Rhodes :D

2.) Thanks. Well, let me know whenever you get a chance. If there is, then I'm basically set.

3.) *whispers* Fightclub *ducks for cover*

Ah. Thanks for the whole explanation. I suppose I'll see how it pans out. Got more questions to ask, but too tired to think right now!

Got my forms from Rhodes today! WHOOT!

oh soz

5) Yes. That is, in fact, what you must do if you don't have your own printer. You buy printing credit online and it goes off your student account so you don't need cash. b&w pages = 33c each, colour = R5 each.

I can only answer one of these:

1. I did the JHB-GHT drive once with some friends I'd been staying with in Joburg and it wasn't too bad. You probably wouldn't want to do it on your own but if you can find some other people to do it with it's fine. And it really is best to drive the first time because you're going to have so much stuff - you can't take all of that down on a bus.

Oh, and I can answer #5 (although Tally's already done it, but anyway) - the computer labs and printing facilities are great. When I was there the Jacaranda labs used to be open 24 hours - so I used to wander down there at 4am to print the essays I'd worked on all night. Very convenient :P

You could to a "schools search" to find more Rhodents. (Although I think very few of those people are actually still in GHT, and some of them, like nimnod, are lecturers, not students). And there's a Rhodes community, but I don't think it's very active...

nimnod is my compsci lecturer btw. Oh and I'm the moderater of the Rhodes community... by default since I'm the only member :/

The Jac labs are still open 24/7! But I wouldn't print at 4am coz that's when *everyone* is printing and so you have to wait in line ;)

Anything else you wanna know - anything at all - you can email me. tally1302@gmail.com

Lol, I actually saw your comment on her journal. I would totally freak out if I came across one of my lecturers on LJ! X)

All the various South African communities seem to be rather inactive. It's quite sad, but I guess there just aren't enough of us here :(

Wow, Row, what would I do without you asking all the questions I also need answered?

About the reses - I'm going to phone on Tuesday morning to make an appointment with Sue. Still need to corner my parents in a good enough mood to discuss you staying here though. Will keep you posted.

Oh! Well, I was thinking about spending Tuesday night there and then visiting on Wednesday and going home that day, too. Hmmmm... But don't want to totally invite myself! :P

I'm working on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, so that's out. And then the sale (i.e. work days a week) starts next week, so if I can get an appointment this week I kinda have to take it. My parents say you're welcome to stay here though, so I'll see when I can get an appointment and then what days are best for you to stay here?

Good greif 14 comments and I'm the tardy replier. Sigh. I'll say what I always say - do what feels right. I know that's utterly unhelpful, but I believe you've made up your mind about everything at this point. Lub luvs! Cheerios!

Ah, I love you for your tardiness, Kells! Or perhaps in spite of it! :P
