I think that one of the most beautiful things I've seen since being here in Eyota has been the leaves turning colors and falling to the ground. I've seen it happen in a few other places, but there's something more special about seeing it here. I think that part of it has to do with the delight and the change in the atmosphere I can feel through the land since I've been here. I don't taste as much fear and tension in the air as I used to and I see the elders moving with lighter steps as they teach the children and the Court all about their traditions and their history. It's a beautiful thing to see the children that have lived in hiding playing freely among the leaves with their fathers and the Scelties. The tension is still there, but how can it not be? My First Circle is made up mostly of Warlord Princes and it is in their nature to be on guard and protective. I've never felt like this with a Court before, and it is something that just feels right to me.
It's different in Eyota than it was at Grayhaven and that is fine with me. Here, I am one of the people and not set apart from them behind a wall. Here, I walk with the Scelties and the children and we jump and play in the changing colors of the leaves. I love this time that we have right now because everyone around me seems to be enjoying things just as I am.
We will worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes. Today is for playing with the children and for enjoying the show the land is putting on for us as it heals again.
